Modern Slavery Statement
Wimbledon Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions and commitments of Wimbledon Man and Van to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation within our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not take place in any part of our business.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Wimbledon Man and Van provides removals, transport, and related services to domestic and commercial customers. Our operations rely on drivers, removal teams, administrative staff, and a network of suppliers that may include vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging providers, and occasional subcontracted labour for peak periods.
We recognise that the logistics and transport sector, including associated supply chains, can carry risks of labour exploitation if not carefully managed. We are committed to ensuring that our services are delivered in a manner that respects the rights and dignity of every person involved.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
Wimbledon Man and Van has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. Any form of forced, bonded, or compulsory labour, child labour in breach of applicable laws, or exploitation through coercion, deception, or abuse of vulnerability is unacceptable and prohibited within our business and supply chains.
We expect the same high standards from our suppliers, contractors, and business partners. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation or individual involved in modern slavery or human trafficking, and we reserve the right to terminate relationships where credible concerns are identified and not promptly and effectively addressed.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers and partners who share our ethical values. As part of our approach to due diligence, we communicate our expectations regarding labour standards and ethical conduct to key suppliers and subcontractors. We assess risks based on the nature of the work, geographical location, and the use of temporary or migrant labour.
Where appropriate, we conduct supplier audits or request evidence of compliance measures, such as policies, training records, or certification. These audits may include site visits, documentation reviews, and discussions with management and workers. Suppliers found to be at higher risk may be subject to more frequent reviews and additional requirements to maintain their relationship with Wimbledon Man and Van.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
We encourage all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers to report any concerns related to modern slavery or unethical labour practices without fear of retaliation. Concerns may include signs of exploitation, unusually low pay, restricted freedom of movement, withholding of identity documents, or indications of intimidation or coercion.
Reports can be made to line managers, senior management, or other designated internal contacts. We treat all concerns seriously and will investigate promptly, taking appropriate action where issues are substantiated. Confidentiality will be respected as far as possible, and individuals raising genuine concerns will be protected from detrimental treatment.
Training and Awareness
Wimbledon Man and Van is committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our workforce. Relevant staff, including those involved in recruitment, supplier management, and operations, are provided with information and guidance on identifying potential indicators of exploitation and the steps to take if concerns arise.
We aim to embed respect for human rights and responsible business conduct into our day-to-day operations by integrating these expectations into contracts, procedures, and staff guidance.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery commitments rests with senior management, who ensure that appropriate policies, procedures, and controls are in place and are regularly reviewed for effectiveness. We monitor our operations and supplier relationships on an ongoing basis to identify emerging risks and opportunities for improvement.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least once every year and updated as necessary to reflect changes in legislation, best practice, and our business activities. As part of the annual review, we assess the effectiveness of our actions, consider feedback from staff and stakeholders, and identify additional measures to strengthen our approach.
By publishing this Statement, Wimbledon Man and Van reaffirms its commitment to preventing modern slavery and promoting ethical conduct throughout our business and supply chains.
